So, I am super excited! Shutterfly is having a free giveaway of 50 holiday cards just for blogging about their website, and how much I like it! Now that we have Braden in our lives, we have even more thousands of photos than before.  It will be hard to choose a pic to add to our Christmas card this year! We have so many to choose from.  Shutterfly has some great options with their photo cards!  Check them out here! What I am excited about are all of the photo options that Shutterfly includes on their site.  We could just choose one photo for our card, or a few.  Check out their 2010 Holiday Card Promotion!

Shutterfly is very easy to use! You can do it any time of day, and access your photos from anywhere.  It is quite nice to have all of your photos backed up online, as well.  Especially when you have a computer that goes a little crazy sometimes! It's nice to have a safe place to store them all.  I would hate to lose all of the great photos I have taken. 




I have made really fun photo books on their site...from our family reunion with the Garmagers a few years back, and one of our fantastic trip to Scandinavia...the latest I created was a pregnancy book.  It will be a fun gift to share with Braden when he is older.  I'll try to post a link to those here too...but it maybe in a different entry.

I've made lots of calendars too.   It's always so fun to see pics from the past and highlight the year ahead!  You can enter your own special dates on the calendars too!  It's a special family gift, perfect for the holidays. 

I have also wanted to check out their large wall art.  It would be really fun to have a large family portrait up on our wall!

Nesting Craziness

I have not posted in forever...which doesn't mean that I haven't been going crazy making things for Braden's arrival.  In fact, just the opposite.  Although I have been spending a lot of time on the couch, in front of the TV, I have been able to keep my hands working! So, the week after school as out, I was in high nesting mode...I finished a TON of knitting and sewing projects...these are most of them, although there are a few more...but I have to take a few more photos! 

Here is the matching hat to the little blue sweater that I knit for Braden earlier...finally done! 
I am super excited that I found this cute little giraffe papoose on Raverly...although I kind of tweaked it and made it up how I wanted to.  We are bringing this to the hospital...just in case it's cold, in July....sure! :)

Jenny's good friend Angie was very generous with baby things that she is now handing down to all of us preggos....she gave us a green cozy boppy...and Jenny used some extra sheets from Braden's bedding to make a matching Boppy cover...go Rocket ships!
 
Here is Braden's baby quilt...full of rocket ships and stars.  I figured Braden didn't need an entire bedding set, as they are super expensive, mass-produced, and they aren't supposed to have bumpers in their cribs anyway.  So, I decided to make a quilt, part of the fabric coming from the fitted sheets that we picked out for Braden's nursery.  Then, I found a bunch of matching fabric at the local quilt shop.  I kind of made up the pattern, and cut away.  After a few adjustments, I finally finished sewing.  Grandma Kathy did the binding on the quilt, and it was finished! It's not necessarily "baby"ish, but he won't really notice, and probably won't use it until he's older anyway!

Poor Muggles...she  has no idea what is coming her way! :)  She plays with my yarn enough, so we had her try on one of my finished creations.  I don't think she enjoyed it as much as she would have just enjoyed the actual ball of yarn!

There is really only one thing that I had decided that I didn't like knitting, and that was socks.  However, baby socks, and this pattern, I'm ok with.  Again, found it on ravelry...I think they are called "stay on baby socks" or something like that.  Anyway, Using the self-patterning and self-striping sock yarn is great...they look fancier than they really are.  And, they are quite elastic, so I am hoping that they stay on Braden's feet well enough.  Here are 2 different colors, and 2 adaptations of the simple hat.  They knit up very quickly.  Funny enough, I have one more skein and some knitting needles packed in my hospital bag.  We'll see if I actually feel like knitting while I'm in labor! But, you never know!  I like to keep my hands busy, and we have no idea how long labor will take.
Fantastic burp cloths!  My cousin, Kari, had some super cute burp cloths for her little guy and gal, so I thought I would make an attempt at them myself.  They are made out of just a plain, cloth diaper.  Then, I picked out some cute flannel fabric, cut it to fit over the center part, sewed it on, and added matching ribbon to line.  Super quick and easy to do! And, we'll have some fun spit-up cloths as well!

Monkeys, stripes, dots and circus animals, how fun, and very little boy!

 I think Braden will have plenty of hats to wear! Here's one for October! :)  Happy Halloween!
 
Here is Braden's room. I could finally take a photo, after all of his baby gear was finally organized and put away! We are doing the rocket ship theme, so I thought I would paint him a little rocket ship and moon with some stars for his room.  
For Braden's second cousin, Stella, I knit up another cute little sweater...here is how it turned out.  
I love the little details along the collar edge.   That's all for now...I have been busy with more, and will possibly get them on here before Braden comes, but we will see.  I think it will be much more fun to have an actual model for everything!

Baby Boy Sweaters!

So, for the past week and a half I have had the nastiest sinus infection ever...it has definitely not been a joy to be around me this week,  I am sure. One good thing though...I have been able to finish 2 little boy sweaters for Braden! I kind of held off on knitting something until we knew we were having a boy or girl so I could knit accordingly.  This yarn, I bought when I first learned how to knit.  I had made another version of this sweater, but in a more "girly" yarn, so I thought I would do another.  Braden sweater number 1 is done!

I  found some cute little airplane buttons to go with it.

This sweater I am SUPER excited about! I got it off of the AnnyPurls Website (there is a link on my blog on the right hand side).  I absolutely love how it turned out, especially with the cabling, and the lap shoulders.  I think I will be making more things with lap shoulders, just like a onesie, it will be easier to get over little Braden's head! I am currently knitting a matching hat! I can't wait to put all of these little sweaters on our little guy, and have an actual model wearing the sweaters and things I make!

Our friends, Lisa and John are having a little girl, Addison, in January.  I had fun sewing a little something for her!  I absolutely loved the cute little flowers! Can't wait to make more! I also sewed up some matching bloomers...way too fun!

Back in September, some high school friends and I hosted a baby shower for our wonderful friend, Nicole. Here we are...Jen, Ang, Nicole and Beth. We had a Bedtime Story Theme...hence, the pj's!



For food, we opted to keep it simple...we had milk and cookies! YUMMY!






Our table was set as a bed...pillow, quilt, stuffed animal, stories, and all...and of course, those yummy cookies!

Here's a closeup of the sweater. It came from a knitpicks kit...have a couple more in the craft room, so you may see some of these later on in other colors.



As soon as I found out Nicole was pregnant, I instantly had to find some cute fabric to make a baby quilt. I really like how it turned out. They are not finding out until the baby comes if they are having a boy or girl, so I had to find something that could work either way. I think it works well, with the green and brown, as it matches their nursery. Also, I love the kitties--since they have two! I can't wait to meet little Skoge!

Lately, I HAVE been creating all sorts of things. I just have not been so good at posting! Obviously since the last time I posted was around Christmas time! Anyway, here are a couple of paintings that I did in the past few months. I finished the above painting this spring. It was based on a photo of poppies that I took on our vacation out to Holden and Canada from the summer of 2007. I'm kind of drawn to painting flowers.

This was originally going to be a painting based off of the Eastern Redbud tree. I fell in love with that sort of tree when we visited Brian down in Iowa for his graduation. It turned out to be a mix between that and cherry blossoms.

This drawing is based on Holden Village.


Here is a yummy dessert I made for the 4th of July this past summer. It was from a Martha Stewart magazine...so so tastey too! All butter and sugar...and a little fruit! Hope everyone had a happy 4th of July!

Brian said that he wanted a "B" sweater, and that he would wear it if I made one for him. Well, even if it was jokingly, I followed through. This is my first "adult-sized" big sweater that I have made. It's a little long in the arms, but it works. I think it turned out ok. It's 100% wool, so it should be nice and warm for those cold Minnesota or North Dakota days.


And, since dad is such a Gopher fan, I decided to make him a new blanket and pillows for their newly finished addition. Since the Gophers will be playing football outside next year, it can also be put to good use then!
